The Door is Almost Done

Well, if I sound stupid today it is because I have the head cold from heck. I have, however been working on my SW room and have finished stuccoing the front of the front door. If I do say so myself, it came out pretty good. I hope to stucco the back tonight and put the room together tomorrow-that is the test. Then I can clean up the kitchen table some. Next step is white washing the walls, then doing the floor tile. I can not wait to do the kiva and all the tile that goes on it. Well, I am off to the art room to work on mini terra cotta pots.

Starting The Door and The Gate

Well, I feel I have to get this SW room done ASAP, so I am going to work on it everyday. The picture on the right is a picture of the big door and the gate drying. The middle picture is the handles for the door and the gate. I have painted them black and put so rust patina on all the metal pieces-I don't see that it has made a difference. Later on I will paint a faux rust patina on the metal pieces. The picture on the left is the gate with one hinge and a cross I am going to put on it. Well, back to work.

Door Wall

The center arched piece of wood is the door that came with the SW room kit. I decided to make a mock door to recess in the door opening of the wall. It will add to the stability of the wall.

This is the faux door with a jam. I am going to make a half cut out where the door is. I also cut the bottom of the door, so the tile can go under it. The jam is going to be glued to the wall and then have the thinset put around it. I am going to put faux strap hinges on the door and put some detail on it. I can not decide which is the front or the back of the door.

I guess the wall on the left will be the inside and the flip side of the same wall (that the faux door/jam fit in) will be turned to the outside. My brain is tired, so I may not work on this any more tonight. My brain is fuzzy as to what to do next.
Thanks for looking,
Kate

Doug Helps

Well, the base of my adobe house warped because I glued felt on the bottom of it to keep the skewers in to impale the walls on. My husband screwed the 1/4th inch plywood to some 3/4" inch plywood. Now all I have to do is white wash the walls and impale and glue them down. I think I will put the back wall in first, after it is white washed, as it has lights in it. I am putting a fountain on that wall in the patio-I may have to finish the fountain and glue it to the wall before putting it up. I have two projects for tomorrow-yea. Like I have nothing else to do. Well, I should have pictures tomorrow.

More Fountain

Well, I am working on the fountain. I thinned the Mortar Mix I got from HBS- www.miniatures.com , and brushed it on the fountain with a stiff 1/2" flat brush. I think it looks cool. It has to dry-may work on it tomorrow. I have a list of things to do and I really should not be doing things that are not on the list-oh well!!! More later.
